The systems also are easy to maintain. EIFS rarely need painting. Most are specially formulated with a 100% acrylic binder, which helps EIFS resist fading, chalking and yellowing. As a result, most systems tend to maintain their original appearance over time. EIFS also tend to resist dirt, mildew and mold, which further contribute to keeping building exteriors looking clean and freshly painted.

EIFS acts as an energy-efficient thermal blanket. When insulating the outsideof your home, EIFS can reduce air infiltration by as much as 55% compared to standard brick or wood construction, which leads to reduced energy consumption in your home. If properly maintained, the EIFS cladding will last the life of the building. Initial EIFS walls were installed in the late 1960s and most are still in good standing. Periodic cleaning is suggested to maintain the EIFS appearance.
